Reminiscing the Boy-band Era

I’ve been listening to boy-bands from the 90′s recently. Still remember the boy-band era then? I wonder where did those charismatic groups of harmonizing heartthrobs go. I used to adore listening to songs from Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, Five, A1, Human Nature, WestLife, Mercury4, Boyzone, N’Sync, Blue, etc…
I think its kinda sad that the boy-band mania has already faded away. Before, guys who could sing made me go all weak in the knees. Though I can’t say the same now… Haha. I still love to go back and listen to boy-bands though. And I’m still a sucker for Backstreet Boys! Many of my friends actually agree with me that they have absolutely nothing against mainstream music nowadays… but sometimes they just can’t help missing the music then.
Anyway, those of you who grew up around the late 80′s or 90′s should remember these songs…
These are also some of the songs I grew up listening to.
Savage Garden
Westlife
98 degrees
The ending of this video cracked me up.
Boyzone
and the list goes on…
Five – “Keep on Moving”
Trademark – “Only Love”
Blue – “Breathe Easy”
O-Town – “All or nothing”
Boyzone – “All that I need”
Savage Garden – “I knew I loved you”
N’Sync – “This I promise you”, “Tearin’ Up my Heart”
Backstreet Boys – “Shape of my heart”, “Incomplete”, “Inconsolable”
I will try to fix you
Listen to Todd Sarvies‘s cover of Coldplay’s “Fix you” during MTV’s Starmaker’s finale. I was searching for the youtube video a few months ago but it wasn’t uploaded… but now it is! I feel like this guy not only has an amazing voice but he also pours his heart and soul into the finale song, making his performance absolutely beautiful to watch and listen to. The video might be a bit blur but it is the clearest quality I’ve been able to find so far. Anyway, just listen!
Chasing Pavements
My finals are over and I am taking a long holiday, break, vacation, whatever… I don’t care. I’m just happy and sleepy… and I’m going to nap for the next few days to recuperate from all the stress I’ve compiled the last few days.
Oh and add me on twitter: @geraldinepang! Seriously, don’t knock twitter if you haven’t tried it yet. To be honest, I initially didn’t see the point (and hype) of twitter… but after trying it out for a couple of months… its become my favorite social networking site! You can develop closer relationships with your friends via twitter if you get them to come onboard too… Well that’s if you manage to convince them to do so. ;3
I’ve become a Gleek!
The holidays are here and Christmas is just around the corner. This gives me the chance to reflect upon the wild year that I’m wrapping up to make bigger plans for the future. It also gives me a chance to thank everyone who’s been a part of my life the past year.
Now that I have more free time on my hands, I have been catching up on the many shows recommended by my friends. And I am currently in love with Glee. The songs and performances are so full of life and inspiring.
There are too many shows that are full of crappy “talent” these days. I read an interesting book called “Claims to Fame: Celebrity in contemporary America” as research for my paper about a week ago and gained a little in-depth on how the fame celebrities have nowadays is being perpetuated through infamy instead of individual talents or virtues… which I think is kinda sad really. What happened to those days of real talent? So going back to Glee; One reason I why love it is because it is a remarkable show with a cast full of actual talented people. Lea Michele’s voice is amazing mind you.
I wish I can sing like like her!

Here are some of the covers the Glee Cast did… Go check the show out if you haven’t watched it! :)
