Trader Vic’s at New Otani

December 9th, 2009

I have been out dining so much lately I think I have been driven by a passion for food. So anyway, Laura, Marxline and I enjoyed a great dinner at Trader Vic’s at the Hotel New Otani the other day. The early Christmas decorations created a warm atmosphere with a great deal of unique character and views to boost. The place also had a bit of an old style tavern vibe to it.

Their drinks menu offered us an array of international cocktails and all sorts of exotic drinks all served in glasses paired with delicious light fares. I ordered the famous Mai Tai cocktail which came with the pineapple spear, the cherry and one big slice of lime down under.

We had the set meal which started out with a choice of salad or soup. You can check out their menu here if you’re interested!

Their New York Steak which was one of the signature dishes…

My choice of their Fillet of beef. Laura ordered the same one too. The flavor was really rich and intense and we really enjoyed it.

A charming and friendly waiter attended to us and service-wise, they were pretty prompt and professional. On the whole, Trader Vic’s provided us with a really comfortable and pleasant experience and I think that the place would be a great rendezvous for a romantic dinner date or nice dinner out with your girlfriends.
